Operations Assistant

Lincoln Youth Soccer (LYS) is a community-based competitive and recreational soccer club located in Portland, Oregon. We are a 501(c)(3) and believe in the power of the beautiful game to change lives for the better. Lincoln Youth Soccer was formed with the alliance of 4 neighborhood rec clubs – Forest Heights Soccer Club, Hillside Soccer Club, Vista Soccer Club, and Skyline Soccer Club. These Rec Clubs currently serve K-5th players while LYS serves Competitive programming and Middle School Rec.

The Operations Assistant role includes handling all registration and organization of the Neighborhood Rec Clubs as well as support work with Lincoln Youth Soccer. They will collaborate closely with Rec Club Board Members, LYS Director of Operations, and Rec Coaches to ensure excellent customer service to our community. Operations will also include the organization and allotment of team gear to volunteer coaches.


Utilize Blue Sombrero/Sports Connect (or other designated registration software) to set up seasonal registrations and facilitate registration for players, teams, and coaches. Troubleshoot registration system technical difficulties.

Manage coach clearances, form teams, and organize transfer of team information to the PYSA (Portland Youth Soccer Association) system.

Help maintain and update WordPress website with seasonal information.

Be a positive, helpful, and proactive voice for neighborhood Rec clubs when interacting with players, families, parent-coaches, and other clubs.

Minimum Requirements

Proficient in programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

Comfort and proficiency in learning and utilizing different types of online services and digital technology.

Eager to learn and passionate about both the coaching/technical side of youth soccer and club management.

Ability to pass national background checks through the Oregon Youth Soccer Association.

Minimum of 2 years in an administrative or operations role preferred.

Compensation and Terms of Employment:

Position varies in both duties and activity level in tune with the soccer calendar.  It includes the need for frequent shifting priorities, and activities.  The individual in this role can expect varying hours depending on the season. More hours will be dedicated to the Assistant Registrar duties in the months leading up to a Rec season.

We estimate an average of 10-20 hours per week and compensation will range between $18/hr and $28/hr depending upon experience.
